Hanoi Women's Museum

The last museum I went to visit paid homage to all the women who worked and fought hard for Vietnam.  One of the pluses of living in communist nations tends to be a sense of gender egalitarianism, and especially respect for women and the hard work they do for society.  And what better way to experience a museum about women, than with a woman?!

Thanks Phanh, for meeting up with me here to show me around!

Even though it's no longer necessary for women to pick up rifles to defend their country from the evil imperialists, Vietnam still manages to produce strong, smart women with ambition and drive.  Phanh is headed off to Wisconsin next year to study abroad for a couple years.  Good luck!

Most of the contents of the museum were posters, tools, and textiles from different periods in Vietnam's history, all outlining the dynamic role women have played in Vietnamese society.

If you're  ever in Hanoi, this museum comes highly recommended.
